you really don't need a lot of rpm I doubt a stock 5.3 will make power above 6K with a turbo, that being said even though you don't have lockup you still have 4th gear so 3.50 would be fine for cruising around IMO.

75-80 approximately 25-2700rpms just depends on your converter slippage, but factoring in 5% is usually a good estimate.Doing less with more

Are you going to go over 800rwhp, if not why a 9 inch?Originally posted by Formula Z View PostWhat gear ratio for a 9" would be ideal? Thinking a non lockup converter so was thinking 3.0 or 3.10s. Which brand without breaking the bank? Thanks
You will loose less power to the wheel with a 12 bolt.

Got a great deal on a moser 9". I dont think my stock 10 bolt w 3.73s is up to the task
25-2700 rpms still seem high with 3.50s. I guess if you guys think 3.50s will be better stoplight to stoplight, im good. If it will help build the boost and still be hghwy friendly im all for itLast edited by Formula Z; May 19th, 2013, 11:54 AM.sigpic

There's a couple 12 bolt f body's putting way over 600 up to the wheels here in flint. No issues. I mean there not not bullit proof. But Im sure you have reason for your opinion.
If you got a deal on a 9inch then I completely understand, gives you room to grow.

If it helps I was running a 3.08 for the street and would switch 3rds to a 3.50 for the track. For street or highway I feel a 3.50 is alittle high myself. But for splitting often street/track. Iv seen a lot of people run 3.50 with plenty of luck.Originally posted by Formula Z View PostGot a great deal on a moser 9". I dont think my stock 10 bolt w 3.73s is up to the task

Nope a 4l60e. 2700rpm is high rpm for a 4 speed v8 car. my raised mine for milage. most v8's carry enough torqe to cruise highway speeds and maintain around 2000rpm.Originally posted by kammi10 View Postand i would also bet that you had a 3 spd trans not a 4 like he has..

Not saying 3.50 is a bad gear. But there are more streetable gears.

not disagreeing with the fact that there is more streetable. if your only going for fuel mileage.. but lets be honest.. we didnt buy these cars to get great mileage. i run a 3.50 in mine and it is extremely streetable and i have a 3 spd instead of a 4. which means mike will be every bit just fine with the same gear. sure you could go with a 3.00 to get better mileage but then its not going to help when you go to the track or wanna have some fun. its just like how guys run a 3.73 when they have a 10 bolt in the car with a 4l60. it works just fine.. just like a 3.50 works great.
btw mike.. stay away from the 3.25 gear sets if you think about not going the 3.50 route.. i had three of them and bc they are not a very common gear set they are generally very loud..
