  • No, I've read some threads about people having coolant leak by the studs themselves. Doesn't some of the studs/bolts go into the cooling passages?

      Not on a LS1 - maybe on a LT1

      • Well there it is! Another reason the LT1 is better than the LS1 no bolts into the coolant passages hahaha.

Do yourself a favor and swap to a 0411 PCM. Did it in my 98 and it's easily the best supporting mod I have.

The bolts on an LS1 don't go into the cooling passages...

I think he got that and his comment was sarcasm as to play off that bolts going into the coolant passages was somehow better. Mike why do you need to wait until it warms up to work on the car? Its not outside is it? or just unheated garage?

I actually typed that backwards. I meant to say why the LS1 is better than an LT1, no bolts in the coolant passages.

                      • You buy a turbo yet? Take my advise and save for something with a 75mm+ turbine.

I know there are head bolts that go through coolant passages in the 6.0s so thats what you might have read

                            • Its more about the exhaust side than the compressor. I personally don't like turbo that have a compressor thats much larger than the turbine. They just don't seem to perform well. That new T76 that Jonny has looks like a good turbo for a good price.

I'm not sure what 6.0 your thinking of but its certainly not an LS based motor if the head bolts go into the cooling passages.
