i would fix that there acces hole, since it looks like a decent cut grab the welder and weld that shut

I used to be very against the fuel pump access hole, but my last car already had one cut and I will admit it was quite convenient. I'm not sure if I would personally do it to a car I own, but if it's there I certainly wouldn't weld it up. Make sure the cut edges are coated in some way (paint ideally) and either buy a new piece of metal to cover it and use sheet metal screws and some silicone, or somehow fabricate a lip to re-use the current piece.

I agree with you Jim, I definitely would not want to weld it. The gas tank is right below, wouldn't want to take any chances lol. I think I'll hit the edges with some paint and then go over them with some silicone.

As for the rest of the carpets, I just pulled it out. Some moisture was trapped in the sound barrier, but other than that it was extremely clean. There is only only spot that had my concern; it is not all the way though though. Need to take care of that later. Happy though, I was expecting a lot worse.

I'd get the Moates G1 over the GP1. I have the GP1 and it works well if you plan on changing chips all the time but it doesn't fit under the cover of the ECM.

I'll look on the shelf. I have a box full of pumps so it might take a while to check what they are.

Alright here is a little update:

The wiring harness just showed up, and I plan to clean it up. A lot of the wire loom is cracked and brittle, where should I buy some from? I know I am going to need a few different sizes and I plan on saving as much as I can.

Also finished pulling the interior out of the 91', now I just have to tighten the front end back up. Trying to convince my parents to keep it as a daily driver ��

For the wires you can save...

"Restore wiring harness to like-new condition. Use hand cleaner with lanolin to refresh insulation before wrapping with electrical tape. Lanolin works on old vacuum hoses and weatherstripping, too. It softens and makes things flexible again without making surfaces shiny."

Not sure anymore where to find a good selection of gauges/colors/coatings of automotive wiring. There used to be a place in Troy that I went to, but haven't been there in 10 years or more....can't think of the name.

Actually all the wires are in great shape, just dirty. Using a damp paper to wipe them off. Then I am using electrical tape in sections to manicure the wires.

The plastic loom that covers the wires is what is brittle. What I can salvage I was thinking of soaking in hot water and soap. But thanks for the article Dave!

So I'm going through the harness and I find this...


Looks like I bought a converted tbi harness. It's not a big deal, I only paid $130. The owner never had any problems with it on his tpi set up.

Hmm...I don't know what the TPI harness should look like, but there are factory splices in most harnesses. Since TPI is batch fire, maybe this is OE?

Well it was wrapped in duct tape so my guess is that it isn't a real tpi harness lol.

Well anyways I have a progress shot. Tore the whole harness down, re labeled what I could, and taped it all together. I started to recover it with the wire loom I got from auto zone and I ran out. No school because of the -20 windchill so I guess I get to finish it up!
