So after looking into a cam swap I realized it is a little out of my budget for this build. Trying to keep costs down to a minimum with the best bang for my buck. Gotta love that 17 year old budget!

Work hard, save your pennies. Cam swap is your best bang for the buck. Stock 305 with LT1 cam and a chip will put you close to the TPI output, had a member here request a chip for the same setup and he ran a 15.2 if I remember right.

I'll tell you guys, saving pennies is the name of the game lol. I seriously dump all my pocket change into a bucket labeled "Camaro Fund." What I really need to do is find some graphic design work in my area, it's sort of a hobby of mine.

So after doing some more research I have formed 2 questions.

              1. The TBI unit in my car is a SD based system. On a thread I found from TGO one reply said that I do not need a 350 ESC module because my car is SD. Can anyone confirm this?
              2. I found a used LT1 can for sale in my area for $50. Would this even be a noticeable upgrade? It is only a tiny bit larger than the stock l98 cam. Also would I need to modify my heads to accept the higher lift like I would if I used a zz4 cam? This by far is not my specialty area so any help is appreciated.

Thank you everyone, hope you all had a merry Christmas!

Sounds like your staying with the throttle body and EFI. Smart move! going to Carb is moving backwards. EFI is state of the art and can easily give you what you want.

Larry that is exactly what I was thinking. Carb is great to drive in a straight line, or a weekend kind of car. But efi can check off all the marks on my list and still give me great mileage.

Disagree with both of you. Carb blows away TBI all day long. You can get the same reliability and mpg out of a carb without the crappy technology of TBI and the chip burning.

Darren I haven't heard of a carb that can get 25+ mpg on the highway.

Neither does a 350 or 305 TBI. I've had both in perfectly stock form and modified. TBI is junk and your waisting your time with it. But hey if you want. Swirl port heads, a terrible throttle bottle injection fuel system and a ugly engine bay its your car! A stock 350 with the right carb dialed in correctly with a screw driver not a expensive chip which are never spot on will perform just as reliable, just as efficient as tbi and cheaper easier to maintain and tune. Unless you already have a running driving 350 tbi 350 computer and harness. your waiting your time

Darren, the tbi unit will being going on an l98 (350 tpi) engine. Not an L05 with the swirl ports.
