    • Black duct tape in 8 different spots? I have never heard of duct tape in an oem harness. It just raised some flags for me.

        • I agree, that splice looks OEM

          • Man I would have never thought they wrap the splices in duct tape. That just blows my mind. The quality if all the splices was great, but the duct tape just threw me for a loop.

Anyways I picked up some more 3/4 wire loom to finish up the thick parts. All I have to do now is order some really small wire loom from Amazon because no one carries it around here.

            • Perhaps those parts of the harness were re-wrapped at some point? Or GM may have specified a stronger tape over splices. Either way, I'm glad you have a proper factory harness to work with!

              • Nope, that's OEM. All three thirdgen harnesses I've pulled apart used black fiber backed tape over the injector splices and ground junctions.

                • Wow I would have never known that Michael. But here is the mostly finished harness, all re covered and cleaned.

                  • Little update, college semester starts in the morning.

Should get get the front end all tightened up on the 91 this week. Also want to get the hood/fenders aligned also. Planning on keeping the car as my dd. From there I can roll it out of the garage and start tearing out the red interior from the 92.

As for the 92, I have changed plans a little. While it is out of the car I plan to do a gasket match port job on the l98. It doesn't seem too complicated, just messy and time consuming. Every gain helps in the long run!

                    • IMO, I wouldn't bother with it unless you plan to match the intake ports on the heads as well.

                      • Maybe you are right. My goal for the summer is to have the car move under it's own power. I don't have the extra money to put into performance parts. I feel like porting the tpi unit would be a good bang for my buck, but I could just end up making a big problem for myself.

                        • In the home stretch on the 91'! Today:

                          - Eliminated surface rust on drivers floor
                          - Stopped drivers fender corner from continuing to rot
                          - Attached front bumper along with brackets
                          - Adjusted fenders
                          - Attached hood
                          - Aligned hood and fenders
                          - Painted light housings and trim

About 70% done with the front. Need to buy 2 lights. Also need to attach a few things here and there. On top of it the gap from the hood to the front bumper seemed to grow so I need to address that. Overall very productive!
