Did some wetsanding on the 91' today. Hit the hood with 220 then primed it again after I took the pictures. Dad started taking the orbital to the front bumper. He flattened out the filler from the accident and started taking the 3 coats of paint off. The whole front was spider-webbed from a previous paint job so it is going all the way down to the polyurethane.

That is going to be really hard to paint all together like that. I would remove the nose, ground effects, and even the hood and fenders. Will come out a lot nicer to, just my opinion I have done it both ways.sigpic

As of right now it is much easier for me to just paint it all together. It saves me a lot of time. The car won't be show quality, heck it probably never will. I'm just going for a nice daily. This respray will be much better than the first time. Gun failed, orange peel, paint laid to thin, it was a mess! So anything is going to be better than that.
On another note I will definately pull the 92' all apart when I go to paint it.1991 Camaro RS: "Tiny Turbo Mullet"

Not a pro at body work, but at least I try
Hitting the rough spots with 220, wetsanding the whole car with 400 then 1000. Both bumpers are being taken down to the polyurothabe to eliminate the spider webs. It's a single stage paint if anyone is curious.

Dad went and bought the sealer today, kind of surprised me. I didn't expect him to help me out with this respray because I'm the one that caused the damage. Also looks like we should be right on schedule. He is shifting his focus from Josh's corvette over to my car so we can get it done. Very excited for the next few weeks, can't wait to see that shiny paint again!1991 Camaro RS: "Tiny Turbo Mullet"

Cool! Just my .02, don't waste your time with 1000. Mainly cause you went from 400 to 1000. You won't get the 400 scratch out with 1000. Your best bet is going 400 to 500, or 600. And again just my personal preference. But I wouldn't paint with anything sanded with anything finer that 800.

Thanks for the heads up, me and dad decided 800 would be better, but I will see if I can convince him to go 600 if it will make that big of a difference. This is going to be a stupid question, but would I sand the sealer? I have never done this, and my dad has never used sealer... lol. He use to paint cars in the 80s so he is a little out of practice.1991 Camaro RS: "Tiny Turbo Mullet"
