Alright, thank you for the heads up. I will have to keep my eyes peeled.

Yes, I did get the 7730 along with the engine. What fuel pump would you reccomend Michael? I'm not doing any performance upgrades other than headers and exhaust.

As as for tonight I plan on tearing out the grey interior in the 91'. We finally cleaned out the garage so I have some space. I'm really excited to get the ball rolling.

Walbro 190 or 255, I usually just go to the 255.

I have a stock TPI pump (no clue what car it came out of) and a stock 98 LS1 pump on the shelf, need to clear stuff out and I'll let things go cheap.

I might be interested in that TPI fuel pump if you are looking to get rid of it. As for the harness, I called Brandon and he has an auto sd harness for sale at $180. No luck on a SD 305 tpi w/ t5 harness.

Now, as I am on a budget, I would like to look into this. It would be extremely cheap to do and I have no use for the tbi harness. I do not know much about wiring but I am willing to learn.

If someone with experience in wiring could look that over and give me their opinion I would be very grateful. I am trying to do everything correct but at the same time not spend an insane amount of money.

          Contact Hawks Third Gen.

Honestly, from someone who has reworked numerous harnesses, try to find one that fits your build.

I will say that I forgot about TPI being batch fire. I've done so much GenIII+ after my IROC that I nearly forgot about the ins and outs of early EFI. With that said, you will have to spend good money for someone to rework the harness. They get paid for their knowledge I actually have everything needed to convert a TBI harness to TPI...but my time/parts invested would be around $200, I'd much rather have a uncut harness.

PS, $350 isn't an insane amount of money. I used to think the same...until I realized that I spent 20 hours to save $100

Michael is this something I would be able to accomplish? Hawks is just to far out of my price range, I can't justify $350 for a harness from them. It's more than I have in the complete motor.

I guess worse case scenario I mess up the tbi harness and have to buy a tpi harness correct?

                What are the odds...

A guy on Facebook says he has a 305 tpi w/ t5 harness from his 1992 firebird. Only looking to get $100-$150 out of it..

I was typing a big reply, but DO IT! Even if the harness needs some work.

There is so much rewiring to do when going from TBI to TPI

Plus you can sell your harness to offset the cost. Saves time, money, and a major headache to whoever does the harness.

Ever see a wire tech have a meltdown? It isn't pretty

Because it is 1 am in the morning, I think the guy fell asleep lol. Hopefully he will get back to me in the morning. I am going to ask for pictures, so what specifically should I ask for to verify it's from a 305 tpi w/ t5

There are only a couple differences. T5 harnesses will have the wiring for the reverse switch on the C100 connector. Hard to tell unless you know exactly what you're looking for, ask him to hold it for you and let one of us look over the photos.

The harness checks out to be right, it is from his 92' firebird 305 tpi with a t5. He is going to get me some pictures of it tonight after he is done working. I'll put them up right away.

if you dont find a TPI harness I have one. $80. From a 1987 But will still work as its a stand alone harness. Needs a few wires fixed where it runs into the car. I have a Computer you can have with it too.

Hopefully this deal works out, the guy seems pretty slow to respond. Can't blame him though, it is the holidays. Curtis are you sure that would work with an sd tpi? I don't know the ins and outs of the different systems besides that 90-92 is speed density.
