Ok here is some photos from the seller. To me, it looks like it is in great shape. He claimed that he took a lot of care when taking it out of the car. He also labeled a majority of the plugs and sensors. Just need some extra opinions. We agreed on $130 for the harness with $20 for shipping. hoogiesngrinderz

I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat.

Hell, I'll buy it if you don't

Alright I'm going to go ahead and buy it. Sweet! All that's left is tuning equipment and a fuel pump. That should complete the stuff I need for the swap.

So the harness is in the mail. Of course paypal screws me over and restricts my account. Used it for 2 years without a hitch, now all of a sudden I have to add $50 to my balance and they restrict it.

I don't recommend buying all the equipment if you plan to keep it relatively stock, it isn't worth investing all the money. Have someone to flash you a chip and use a Moates G1 adapter.

I have nearly $300 in equipment for TBI/TPI cars and $550 into my HP Tuners setup for the newer stuff in order to properly datalog and tune.

Down the road I plan on doing quite a few things, of course that is after college. Maybe a few small things here and there until then.

I would like to get a custom chip, but I am very skeptical of them. Being budget minded, I would hate to buy a chip and then not have it work properly.

Custom Chip: $100-$200

Moates Burn2: $85
Moates GP1 Package: $55
ALDL Cable: $60
Tuner Pro Software: Free unless I upgrade

Total for the equipment is $200. This would give me room for upgrades down the road.

Wait it just hit me, I have the computer from the L98. Do I even need a tune or custom chip right away? I plan on just doing headers to the engine for right now. Nothing special, just some flow-tech shorties and a Flowmaster muffler.

You need to factor in a wideband o2 setup to properly tune for fuel while in PE/WOT.

It should run and drive with that stock chip. Idle speeds and timing down low differ a bit from auto and manual trans.

Alright so factoring in the Wideband O2 sensor which would be another $100 I think that a custom chip is just going to be easier.

Edit: I'm not doing any crazy upgrades so could I get by without the wideband o2 sensor for right now?

That's debatable on these SD TPI setups, but there should be enough correction to get by without maxing out the BLMs.

You will not need a full tune though. I can burn you a chip with some corrections and an additional 5% fuel in the VE table above idle RPM.

• Touche, I'm used to a MAF system. But speaking from the general assumption that the factory tune is generally a tad rich so some amount of additional unaccounted VE would get you closer to an optimal AFR.

• You are correct, they are pretty rich in PE. But the stock manifold on third gens absolutely suck

Simple BLM/fuel trim cell logging will let you dial in the car pretty well on the low end. WOT/PE is the unknown, and I hate trying to dial it in with the narrowband o2.

• Michael could you quote me for a chip in a private message? I know I would still need the moates adapter to run it.

But it as for some progress, I have spent the last few days tearing out the interior in the 91'. The PO must of changed the fuel pump at some time because there is an access panel in the floor. He also taped it back down with blue masking tape. The plan is to swap the grey interior into the other car. Before that though I have to tighten up the front end and re align the fenders and hood. Shouldn't be to bad, just time consuming.

In other news, the harness should arrive sometime Tuesday.
