Main thing I'm worried about is he said he had some issues with them. He wrote on that link again.

    • I think you should buy new rockers, I would not take a chance on those used ones, with the file marks, if they were ok he would have used them!!!

              • Couple more questions.

What size oil pump do I need? 3/4 or 5/8?
Is my stock intermediate shaft ok to reuse?
Do you suggest I pack the new oil pump with grease or dip it in new oil?
Should I get a new upper oil pump drive unit?

I ordered the new oil pump spring. He said 2 came up so I just got both. They were only a few bucks each. Is this pretty simple to install?

Got the new used EWP in lastnight

Should I paint it silver or black?
Can I get new gaskets for it?

                • I would get new intermediate shaft, the original stock one has plastic coupler if I recall correctly. When ordering new oil pump you need to get stock "LT1" melding pump. (don't forget to have pickup tube welded, end of pick up tube should be 3/8 from bottom of oil pan)
The best gear drive unit is a billet one, has better oil flow to lub gear. We had quite a descussion on here about bronze and cast gears and after market cams not matching gear. Bronse gear for race apps. only last short time because they are soft.
Doesn't matter what color you paint water pump it is not visable after you get hoses and air input connected. Same as for color of block you really have to look hard to see it in the car. I would think normal gaskets for water pump would work because you are matching block openings.
Oil pump white spring is easy to install there is a rolled pin that you tap out sring comes right out, install new white spring and tap rolled pin back in to hold spring.

                  • Any ideas where I can buy the shaft? How about the drive gear? Do I get just a gear or is it the whole assembly?

I do recall reading a little bit of brians post back when.

The water pump has a gasket behind the electric pump to the housing. That's the one I'm wondering if I can replace or not.

I talked to 2 different parts store told them year and model specifically said LT1 and they both asked if it was 5/8s or 3/4

Also, I got my rebuild book in, it looks like there are 3 soft plugs behind the timing chain that didn't get put in. they are ones that have a pin hole in the center of them to let oil seep into timing cover. I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to get them at a parts store.

Yeah I planed on welding it up. I have heard quite a few stories of guys leaving their wp driveshaft in, incase there ewp fails, and having it leak.

Is it aluminum? Damn I was hoping I could mig it at work.
