I bought my old 93 Z28 back, now it needs some TLC

Budget and LT1 don't go great together, but I get what you are saying. I started with a Delco opti then went with a Dynaspark when I should have just went with the LTCC to begin with and spent about the same amount of money. Also, I kept a Chandler for a spare and had to use it a couple of times and it worked great.

Yeah any motor in general can't really be a budget build if you want everything done right although there are things I can cut back on. For instance I also think I'm going to use stock trans until she goes, which I don't expect to be too long.

At this point I would look into the LTCC coil conversion to ditch the opti. For the money you would spend on a good opti your half way to the conversion kit, plus much better tuning abilities

This would be well spent money since you have a 93. You can tune the engine far better than burning prom's and guessing.

I definatly don't plan on ruling it out just yet. I just rather make it a future mod. As long as I find a good tuner it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Haha, do you really think it will be over $500? The cam, rings and pistons, rod and main bolts are all paid for. The only "parts" he supplied is cam, main and rod bearings, soft plugs and a rear main seal.

As for labor he bored .030 over, cleaned block, assembled shortblock and polished the crank.

I had similar work done on my block a couple years ago, it cost me $1000 and that was a damn good price.

He played dumb with me today asking if he was assembling the shortblock. No idiot I gave you arp rod and main bolts as a donation!

Update on block

Dropped off rear ms housing and main caps. He ordered a gasket kit and said all said and done just shy of $800 buttttt since he knows me and it took so long $600
Good enough for me! He said plan on picking it up Wednesday.

Also he said he had to resize the rods, that arp said so. What's that about?
