Well I'm going to void that out...

I'm still waiting on the cam to come in. Haven't heard a single thing from the machine shop. They do great work but as far as I'm concerned their customer service sucks. I dint like saying that since he and I go way back but it's getting old. I left a message last week if he needs me to get the main seal, freeze plugs and rod bolts etc or if he plans on getting all of that. I would assume he would. But I am unsure. I'm going to the scrap yard this afternoon with my friend to see if we can gather up some misc interior parts.

    • Well there was only one camaro at scrapbusters.

But I did manage to pick up 2 interior kickplates. For free! No, I didn't steal them. My buddy bought $50 worth of stuff for his truck so the guy gave me mine for free.

I'm on my iPhone and it won't let me post the IMg urls so maybe someone can fix it for me. Thanks!

Well I work at a body shop so I'd do it the correct way but paint just isn't as durable as powdercoat.

On another note, $380 for lower a arms and $280 for uppers!!! Geez!

Haha! I loved that car and it sucks I had to sell it. But buying a house is now much sooner in my future.

Yup, just want to get the car drivable before I worry about paint. I'd hate to push it around the shop, in and out of stalls and the paint booth.

Glad to see people still checking in on it! Once I get the cam I'll see what the progress is on the block.

Well I am "hoping" he stuck to his word and the block work is done. Although he was going to call me when it was done.... Never got a call.

The cam suppose to be coming in tomorrow. As soon as the can comes in im going to drop it off at the shop and have an official update. He is assembling the short block so if all goes as planned I hope to have it back at the end of next week.

How did B spin a bearing? I have been hearing more and more stories of people spinning bearings just after there rebuilds on lt1s. So I'm freaking out!

                          • Brians car spun couple main and couple rod bearings, It was not really after rebuild but after we bought engine that had been sitting in storage locker a while after owner totaled car. We pulled heads, installed new cam, new lifters, had heads ported and valve springs measured and new springs installed, installed roller rockers, new oil pump, and headers had car tuned and installed bigger injectors.
Failed: 1. to check bearings, 2. Oil pan was dented on bottom, 3. Fail to get flash done before 1st start. Engine ran for 80 miles before failure. I think it was combination of the 3 failures.
2nd build had machine shop assemble short block new bearings, new pistons and set rings. Engine has run good and strong since.
This is why way back I recommended you have machine shop put the short block together, since he is boring the cylinders and installing new pistons I'm assuming he'll check bearings if not have him do that. this is where you don't want to cheep out! Sorry for long post.

                            • He is installing all new bearings. I'm also going to do that pressure relief spring in the oil pump that Joel recommended. If for whatever reason I was to spin a bearing would the shop cover it if they put the shortblock together?

                              • they should the place I used did. I would not think you would have any problems though with new bearings and him setting rings. I would imagine your putting in a new oil pump, besure to have pickup tube position set and welded. It should be 3/8 to 1/2 inch from bottom of pan, you can see it from oil pan drain plug hole.
