I bought my old 93 Z28 back, now it needs some TLC

As of now its going to be a track car and maybe a weekend car. It all depends on if I sell the 99 or not. As for heads I planned on porting the stockers. I know its not going to give me great numbers but i have tons and tons of parts to buy and lots of work to do before I worry about heads.

Stock heads can be made to work great. Look at Joels car, stock heads with some port work and the car breaths amazing. its all about the right combination, someday Ill have it too lol.

I am picking up the girlfriends dads welder on the way home today! Going to attempt to weld the window thingamaboper and the antenna hole.

Also I coated some more engine bolts, intake hose clamps etc.

I know kyle likes to throw a fit about it, but what I have is hardly port work. It is all about having the right combination of goodies though and even AI told me it took a setup like mine to really bring out the potential.

edit: to clear this up I looked at the receipt and I know exactly what is done. the port runners are stock/as cast. As an assembled head, I couldnt see anything he did other than evidence of a couple scratches here and there. The only thing done was some slight bowl porting, which is the part just above the valve seat, and not really visible as an assembled head in the form i picked them up. It is worth something though, I will not argue that. But what I have is nothing even close to a set of AI 190s which actually have larger port runners...whereas I still have the "as casted" walls in those locations.

Welded up the antenna hole!



Ground down the welds.



Used some fiberglass filler.



Sanded the filler



Threw on some etch so the bare metal doesn't rust.



Sorry about the pics I left the camera at work. I still need to use some glaze over the duraglass since it still has some small pits in it then some primer!

Also, I welded up the wheel thingy in the window so now its partially up I just need to put a new window motor in it. Which I have one laying around but I think I am going to put her in the 99.

Not much of an update. Other than I talked to the Machine shop, he said no worries the block is still there

I kinda feel like a dick for leaving him hanging but I heard he is pretty busy so it isnt a big deal (so he says)

As for rings and pistons the girlfriend said she would go half and half with me for my bday present Which is better than nothing. Next is going to be cam, and main bearings and it will be good to come home. Then I will be able to buy more things and slowly be able to put her back together. I have a lot of work ahead of me!!!

It was a 110 welder. I used the same guage as the quarter panel. Checked underneith and it had great penetration. Maybe because it was taken from my phone. who knows lol.
