  • I pulled the injectors off the rail. Question is what should I do now? I plan on sending the intake manifold to AI and having a street/strip job done to it and putting on a 58mm throttle body, having the heads rebuilt possibly mild port job. Should I just send the stockers out to be cleaned or go bigger?

    • dont waste your money on the intake work unless you plan on doing something with the heads.. the stock intake works well up to 400 whp. And i guess i dont know what your goals are for the car? AI makes the stock head flow really well(lots of stock ported heads in 10s) so i guess its all up to you and your budget. and goals.

      • I already got an invoice from AI. I was gonna send the heads in and have them do the 200cc job and valve train. I don't have 5500 dollars to spend right now. I'm pretty sure I have a messed up valve on the passenger bank thats where the head rebuild comes from. Its 350 to have the intake ported, so its just a small set to having the entire top end done.

        • gotcha, well i guess if you dont have the funds just do what you can to fix the heads and dont waste your money on the intake. i have ai heads with a stock intake and make good power. a guy on tech makes 450 whp with a un ported intake. so save your money for heads.

          • Well I emailed AI and asked them if its worth to have the heads worked and run a stock valve train because I won't have the money to do both. The heads need a valve job. So debating on just doing a stock rebuild or let them work them and run stock valve train for now.

            • If your going to pull the heads and have the valves done, I would put my money in a cam and roller lifters, new springs, while it is apart. the trottle body and intake can easily be done later when you have more funds, and at that time I would do injectors. either way you'll need a tune each time..
Call Steve SB Tuning our sponser he can set you up for tunes and he has a guy to do head work.

OBTW put away the big hammer for the rest of your build! LOL

              • I am tuning myself. Tunercats and dual wideband. The problem is the valve job needs to be done. Then I wouldn't know what lifters and stuff to run. Cause I'd probably run it till next winter the hopefully do my AI build.

Next time it's a full size sledge hammer I'll break out.

                  • UPDATE:

Well I got the intake manifold removed, rockers, push rods. Drained the coolant system. I can't get the banjo bolts on the back of the heads lose. The driver side I can't even get the wrench on it, passenger side I can but I can't get enough torque to move it, can't fit he pipe I have on the wrench under the cowl. Any ideas?

Also I am at a toss up. I'm thinking of doing a valvetrain and cam swap. The valvetrain will be easy once the heads are off, but the cam is another story. Should I drop the K member to do the cam swap? If so anyone wanna come over and help (as long as the snow stays like it is, gone)? I have engine stands and a engine puller (cherry picker). I've done it before on a Saturn but never a F-Body. So if anyone would like to help get you a case of beer for the help.

Nice, I was debating between that and LE's 226/232, LE was $115 cheaper and AI wasn't going to have any in stock for 3 weeks. Although this was about 3 months ago. So I went with LE's

                          • I'm planning on getting their matched valvetrain set. Plus I plan on sending my heads out to AI so I wanna try to stick with them.
