      • hey mike acording to gm repair manual you can inspect the bearings and re use the bolts they recomend new side main bolts because they have sealant, if it were me i would put it back together just put a lil sealant on the 2 main side bolt heads so u dont have a leak like last year either that or get 2 more bolts i think they were like 3 bucks, as far as head bolts dont get gm they arent worth it just spend your money on arp bolts they are reusable and alot better than gm's. let me know if you need any thng, the specs or help, the rod and main bolts are torgue to yeild.

          • Springs are pretty easy to do. The fact that you have the heads off makes it much easier also

            • yeah, i didnt think theyd be too hard, ecspecially with the heads off. well im going to order my rod and main bearings tomorrow and im also going to get some new piston rings and swap those out as well. im sure the cylinder walls could use a good honing. hopefully the rebuild will begin sooner then later. any suggestions, concerns, and/or comments are greatly appreciated. thanks for all the advice and help so far to anyone who has added their $.02

              • Oil filler neck for the new valve covers. I just read that they're very prone to breakage when being removed from the valve cover? Mine did not come with a new filler neck so I'll have to get a new one or very carefully remove the one from my old valve covers.

                      • there is a small ring between the oil pump and the pickup, other than that no gasket between the pump and the front of the block.

                              • its not strange the pump is just bolted to the block to keep it in place the only oil coming out of it goes through the tube.
