You also get an o-ring for it in the timing cover gasket set. It's nice to have a second one though just in case.

valve seals would have been replaced at the machine shop, you have to disassemble the heads completely to replace them, you should be fine though as those are low mile heads.Doing less with more

ok so i figured if i was going to have to use the valve covers off the 5.3 for my ls6 heads, i would need the coil bracket too. well i sandblasted and painted nicely the brackets only to find out they wont work with my coil packs because the mounting holes for the coils are spread to far apart....... and now i cant find my ls1 brackets.....damn it! im just going to burn my garage downsigpic

right you probably have the truck brackets thats why they wont work the sit higher up on the valve covers and will hit the fuel feed line,go grab yourself some car center bolt coil brackets for like a c5 or something.
but the truck coils you have what style are they? there are two different types or do you just have the coil brackets and not the actual coils?
ls1tech will have the part number for the correct bracketssigpic

I think the truck coils are different. I solved my problem for now by mounting the coils sideways on the valvecover, I also ordered msd wires for a truck 5.3 that are a few inches longer so they'll reach the plugs. I'll have to call the dealer tomorrow though to see if they have any brackets that are correct, that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Is it rough? I mean, I'm no expert, but I don't like the looks of that.. Wish I still had my stock cam, I'd of given it to you.. Tried selling it a couple times for next to nothing, no one wanted it.. So, dumb me, threw away a cam with only a few thousand miles on it.. Just got tired of it sitting around..Originally posted by Formula Z View Postcouple pics of this spot on my stock cam that makes me wonder. it looks almost a perfect chip or whatever you would call it
