  • Car is coming home in the next week or 2. Then I will start on the body work. I just go the front bumper sanded and its just about ready for a couple more coats of high fill primer. I think I am going to start on the drivers rear fender. Also I still need a stock hood.

Pictures will be coming soon when I get here home!

Also my buddy that owns the local parts store can get me some kb pistons and rings that are .030 over for $320. The machine shop that is working on the block can get me rings and pistons for $250 but I dont know what brand they are. Any other suggestions?

I think I am going to need another headliner, I dont think there is much hope for this one. As for the dash I am going to do some plastic repair on it and see if I can save it. Might be worth it in the end price wise.

    Any suggestions?

No problem, as you can see it isn't really going anywhere lol, its pretty much to the point that if I sell it, its worth nothing. I am better off keeping it around and fixing it up.

Absolutely not, lol. I just got a new job and it is a much much better income. I am working as a painters helper at a dealership. So when it comes paint time I will have the place to do it I have tinkered with it a little. The window wheel thing that goes into one of the tracks broke off. Soooo I am going to have to get the girlfriends dads welder over and weld it the best that I can. Then replace the window so I don't have to keep plastic over it. I have some new pics of the dash in its 12 pieces and I AM determined to fix it. I did some pretty nice plastic repair on my old bike I had and I think I can work some wonders on this dash. The headliner has been getting trashed in the barn, the yellow backing piece is so weak and its starting to deteriorate, so as for that I think I am going to have to accept the loss on it and get a new one, or used. But as for now the main thing is to get the motor back from the machine shop. I need to get him some pistons and rings, which I need to get some opinions, I am NOT looking for top of the line but I really really dont want it to empty the bank, but I dont want to put crap in there. After I get him pistons and rings I think I will have him install the cam too, so we don't have to worry about nicking the cam. Fortunately my friend owns the machine shop so he so far hasn't gotten mad and sold the block, crank and pisons .... Other than that my buddy can pretty much do the best and I can pay him in beers, but obviously after he does the work Recently all of the extra cashflow is going towards the 99. I am trying to get the exhaust finished next weekend and will be buying a new dynomax bullet if it goes through on ls1tech.

I AM determined to fix this!!!

You gotta love how things get treated when you live at home Looks like I am going to have to take let this one go. I am going to have to buy a new one.

I started working on the window, I was going to replace the window motor but I noticed this...

One of the rollers on the track broke off. So fortunately its an easy place to weld. Ill have to get the girlfriends dads welder over and tack it back up so I can get the plastic off the window and roll the window up.

I noticed the rip in the powersteering rack, my guess is it must have happened when we took the engine out cause I never noticed any leaks or loss of fluid. I think i am going to just leave it for now. My main thing is to get motor done.

How can I get this out? I took the bolts out...?!?

                          • To remove the heater core A/C box you remove dash and pull it from inside the car. or you can use cutoff wheel and cut it from engine bay. Are you removing it to get at heater core to fix a problem or just removing it to get it out of engine bay.
The window regulator arm with broken roller can be bought on ebay or you can still get them from dealer. We replaced brians several years ago. I would buy new one, not worth all the work to jerry rig it by trying to weld it.
The part on your rack is a dust boot doesn't hold fluid. It protects the inner tie rod end from dirt and grim. I have seen people reseal them with rtv will hold for while but should also be replaced with new boot.

                              • I think I am going to try to weld it first because I am trying to save money on this build. I mean realistically I could be dropping a lot more money into this cars interior, exterior looks, suspension, etc. My MAIN goal is to get pistons and rings and the cam, which I am pretty sure its going to be the cc503 but I a couple of people have been swearing by AI. Once I get the motor back from the machine shop my buddy and I can do the rest to the motor.

As for the a/c box I still want to keep the heat so ill have to do the bypass door thing to keep it.

Ill try rtv'n the rip. Thanks for the idea.
