  • Flywheel/clutch/pressure plate all gets installed to the back of your engine before installing the trans. Slave is installed after the trans is installed and the clutch fork is seated to the throwout bearing. Install the master and reservoir to the car before installing any of that if possible, then just move the slave out of the way until the trans is installed. Do not push in the clutch pedal after you've installed the master until the slave is attached to the trans.

^This - so youre not doing a "complete swap" all over again if you have to pull the trans.

      • Do you guys suggest I bolt up the bellhousing to the block then the trans afterwards to the bellhousing?

        • Yes, and don't use the bolts to draw the trans into the bellhousing. If everything is lined up right it should slide pretty much all the way forward.

          • X2 if you cant get aligned try another tool... I had to rent a steel one from a parts store to get mine to line up, the supplied plastic one wasnt cutting it

Thanks Jim and Joel, all the tips are appreciated. Keep them coming! I'm debating on doing it at a co workers house on his hoist. I know he doesn't care that I do it there but I just hate being that guy, I don't want to tie up his hoist and I know this is going to be an all weekend (at minimum) adventure.

Im about to hit the dealer to see if they can hunt down a boot someone might have as well as a dust shield.
What size are the bolts from shifter to trans Andy idea? Ill just get them at the hardware store should be suffice correct?

                  • Woah, they're re-popping those now? Sweet! When I needed one a year or two ago there was nothing on the market, and all the used ones were ripped.

Only thing, it doesn't look like it comes with the metal "gasket/ring". Although it seems like it would be a easy thing to make out of some sheet metal

                      • What metal gasket/ring? The metal in that should be molded into the rubber, that's how I remember it anyway.

That makes sense. I recall seeing one with it on the top. Maybe it was a different style.
