Flywheel/clutch/pressure plate all gets installed to the back of your engine before installing the trans. Slave is installed after the trans is installed and the clutch fork is seated to the throwout bearing. Install the master and reservoir to the car before installing any of that if possible, then just move the slave out of the way until the trans is installed. Do not push in the clutch pedal after you've installed the master until the slave is attached to the trans.

^This - so youre not doing a "complete swap" all over again if you have to pull the trans.Originally posted by birdie2000 View PostFlywheel/clutch/pressure plate all gets installed to the back of your engine before installing the trans. Yes, and don't use the bolts to draw the trans into the bellhousing. If everything is lined up right it should slide pretty much all the way forward.

X2 if you cant get aligned try another tool... I had to rent a steel one from a parts store to get mine to line up, the supplied plastic one wasnt cutting it-Joel

Thanks Jim and Joel, all the tips are appreciated. Keep them coming! I'm debating on doing it at a co workers house on his hoist. I know he doesn't care that I do it there but I just hate being that guy, I don't want to tie up his hoist and I know this is going to be an all weekend (at minimum) adventure.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostAlso id bolt a shifter up now and make sure there are no obvious problems with that out of the car
Im about to hit the dealer to see if they can hunt down a boot someone might have as well as a dust shield.

Woah, they're re-popping those now? Sweet! When I needed one a year or two ago there was nothing on the market, and all the used ones were ripped.

Only thing, it doesn't look like it comes with the metal "gasket/ring". Although it seems like it would be a easy thing to make out of some sheet metalOriginally posted by birdie2000 View PostWoah, they're re-popping those now? Sweet! What metal gasket/ring? The metal in that should be molded into the rubber, that's how I remember it anyway.

That makes sense. I recall seeing one with it on the top. Maybe it was a different style.Originally posted by birdie2000 View PostWhat metal gasket/ring? The metal in that should be molded into the rubber, that's how I remember it anyway.

IMG_20130624_175902_644.jpgThe trans shop I took mine to ran it through a tumbler to clean it up. They gave me an extra plug if you want to get rid of your cags. Let me know when you put yours in. I might be able to help. I have done this a few times
