I need to think about what i want to do. the head gaskets are wasted on this thing. Oil looks clean but who knows? Might go through all that work to spin a bearing...
idk. Might be parting this sucker out

My options are:
1) Sell as it is
2) Part the car out, scrap the chasis
3) Buy parts and fix it (head gaskets, intake gaskets, manifold gaskets, RTV, egr gaskets .... etc etc etc)
4) Dont buy anything, and tear the engine down to see what I have and decide from there which of the 3 latter options I want to choose. The downside is it would remove the cars ability to move under its own power.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; March 15th, 2011, 11:41 PM.-Joel

Swap head gaskets, drive all the smoke out of it. Install for sale sign. I wouldnt tear it down, definitely do head gaskets and maybe drive it and cut open the filter at the next oil change to see what ya got goin on.-08 G8 GT DD: Rotofab CAI, HID's, Breyton Race GTS'

If you decide to replace the head gaskets and need any more hands, shoot me a PM since I'm not good about checking the technical threads. I'll be gone all next week but after that I'll be around.- Brian Meissen

it looks like the gaskets related to the intake are going to cost quite a bit more than the heads. Is a warped iron head possible if it was overheated? What about head bolts? I think were looking at a minimum of $125 here... Is it just me or does $26 seem ridiculously cheap for a waterpump?Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostJust throw some head gaskets on it. If there isn't any coolant in the oil I'm sure the bottom end isn't hurt.

Jon actually suggested that too! It would be fun but I dont think id feel safe in a unibody car in a demo derby.

There are rules in demolition derby and this car probably wouldnt even be legal to run in it. Figure 8 would probably be doable but that would require way too much work for the 5-10 minutes the engine would last if i even managed to evade getting totalled out by a big block monte carlo that long.Originally posted by Darren View PostWho said anything about safety?
