Have not done a compression test.Originally posted by Dudek View Posthave you done a compression test on this?
can you get some better pics of the damaged side
and lastly how are the tires on it?
I can get some better pictures of the damaged side tonight. The rear quarter panel needs to be painted, the front fender is cracked. If body is a deal breaker I have a line on a replacement matching front fender i could pick up this weekend.
Tires are at least 80% treadwear, they look new and all match.
My honest opinion - this is a good roller for a budget V8 swap. Pull the driveline, junk the engine, sell the trans & V6 parts, use the money from the trans to paint the quarter panel or replace the fender ... install your engine, and away you go with a nice leather interior, working headlights, keyless entry, 6 speaker stereo, etc!Last edited by JoeliusZ28; March 17th, 2011, 07:40 AM.-Joel

No one has put the cash in my hands yet so you never know!
If it doesn't sell in the next couple weeks, there is a good chance I will go through with my original plans of learning body work on this car. It will cost me money but gain me experience. Then it will be a nice roller for someone!-Joel

Alright 3.8 guys looking for input here, im starting to consider the idea of fixing this thing a little more now as the car starts right up reliably every time i move the thing and it doesnt start having issues until it warms up. I started soaking the bolts down with PB blaster in case i do decide to do this but upon inspecting things more closely i found puddles of green coolant on the driver side valleys of the intake, especially right up by the thermostat housing. What would this indicate? just a head gasket or intake gasket too? When i put a load on the engine it sounds like one cylinder is leaking, and its that same one nearest the tstat housing. Also its green coolant puddled there... the engine calls for orange dexcool which is what appears to be in the radiator. could someone mixing this have done any serious damage?
Can anyone point me to a good walk through of a head-gasket swap on this engine?Last edited by JoeliusZ28; March 19th, 2011, 07:42 PM.-Joel

Correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt it be possible for an engine to lose compression via a head gasket? If the purpose is to look for valve or ring wear, that would be a misleading test no?Originally posted by Dudek View Postits a fairly easy job, i would do the compression test before doing head gaskets tho
intake gaskets are fairly common and everything you've told me is saying intake gasket...
Im reading alot about the issues intake gaskets cause but i havent seen anything about burning coolant, and it still seems like it is leaking from the bottom side of the heads.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; March 20th, 2011, 10:50 AM.-Joel
