  • If i can help it im putting that off until the full rebuild. My engine bay is pretty much a wreck, i want everything looking new, not just a few bits and pieces.

    • Replaced the spark plug today. Much much better, not perfect though. Still getting some hickups in the low RPMs like it needs new plugs/wires. Plug wires look like they didnt get bothered by the fire though. I realized i forgot to gap the new plug i might give that a try tomorrow. In any case the car seems to be drivable now, so thats good!

      • If only you had an LS1 you could change the wires in 5 minutes

          • So this weekend i am going to attempt to diagnose the remaining missfire issue. I also found my tuning cable and ordered a mechanical vacuum gauge which i think will be useful.

Plan is to get my tuning laptop up to speed and maybe tweak my tune some.

also if i can get the bugs worked out of this thing the way it is i am *very* tempted to toss this 230/238 cam in ive got sitting on the shelf for the hell of it. Its a gamble whether or not it will work well (better than what i have now) with my heads.

              • Seems like some diaelectric grease on all the plugs was all that was needed to tune up the missfire. Shes running strong again!

                    • Agreed. Although im not sure what the fire had to do with the connection within the spark plug boot when the wires look fine, but ... whatever

                            • I would think the heat could liquify the grease and make it run out.

I honestly never had any di-electric grease on it in the first place and it was fine, but had there been any... absolutely.
