    • Well tried to take it out to woodward tonight. We're back to square one and then some. Soon as i pulled it out of the garage it was only running on 7. Got on it briefly (cold motor, hate that) to try to clear it up... seemed to work. about 4 miles later it didnt want anything less than 4k RPM heavy throttle to keep all 8. Anything less was dumping fuel and backfiring. probably looked like a maniac driving it home at a 4500 RPM cruise WOT every few seconds. I knew it was too good to be true to have it fixed this easy after a massive fire... heh

      • What has me stumped here is it seems clearly ignition related. Could the plug wires be burned even though they literally look brand new? I don't get it... I'm tempted to swap all the plugs because its an easy thing to try but if that's not the problem im just going to destroy a fresh set of plugs.

        • I have a set of wires you can try if you want. They are 8.5mm MSD.

              • Starting to wonder that. But wouldnt that affect more than one cylinder?

                • i couldn't tell you, i just assume all problems are caused by an opti. misfire? opti. won't start? opti. flat tire? opti.

Its so sad but thats how it really is.

Is it the same Cyl that has an issue or is it random? If its the same one I would flip a wire around. Also, use a test light to see if the wire is in fact sparking at all. I got a test light for $5 at the parts store.

                    • Dont know i havent looked yet. If i can identify a bad cylinder ill try to fix it. If i cant... Whole car is coming apart.

It's an opti, I was under the assumption they just did whatever the **** they wanted.

                          • I've owned this car for 13 years and the opti has yet to give me one single issue. But if anything is going to change that its probably dousing it with a fire extinguisher.

Tomorrow I am going to pull the vacuum vent line and hook it up to a shop vac... maybe i can vent some sh** out of it and clear it up.... worth a shot anyway.

                            • Had another thought just now. It was extremely humid friday night... Maybe it was at a tipping point where i was actually getting condensation in the opti.

                              • Maybe the heat allowed for condensation to start getting into the opti. It'd be a pain to get to it, but once you get to the opti I bet you could open it up, make sure it's all nice and clean inside, then silicone it back together and call it good.
