Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the piece in the red box is still attached to the other line in that pic. What's missing is the plastic retainer that fits inside that part.

Nope, those are the thread lock style connectors. A small metal piece threads in and clamps the lip into the main body.
Dave, its the small piece at the bottom of the red box that is missing. It threads into the female connector which is the other 3/4 of whats in the red box.
Comes apart like this. the small male end is what holds to the flare on the rail. And yes it is a thread lock, no plastic retainer.

I prefer this style around vibration. Actually need the quick disconnect tool to remove, plus they have retainer clip just in case.
I agree with not placing blame and good on EAA for sending a replacement. I whole-heartedly believe, however, that you should switch to this other style fitting. Put the same thing back in and another failure will always be in the back of your mind.
So this is an instance where working for a fuel line supplier came in real handy. I wasn't aware we had the means to do this type of thing in my building but one of the engineers here caught wind of my dilemma and said he'd solve the problem for me. Showed me what he had to offer for the harsh price of free and i couldnt argue with any of it. These are the current OEM spec 300 series stainless GM quick connectors with safety clips and he even pressure tested them in our lab for me. Now all my threaded connections will be at least 3 feet from the engine, so this should be a pretty damn bulletproof setup. I appreciate EAA working with me on this issue as well im going to mail the replacement components back to them.
Nice those look legit! Your line blowing off has me worried about my set up. Side note you coming to the dyne day? probably not in the Z I would imagine

Man, I thought you had an electrical fire. Sorry for this!
Awhile back when those fuels lines were for sale here I questioned them for a reason. The after market quick disconnects are known for this. Has happened a lot to the retrofit guys that use the vette filter as a regulator. The last mustang I did an LS swap on Phil recommended swageloc compression fittings instead
They were threaded adapters. I should have used thread lock. I replaced the stock quick connects because they looked like they were going to do exactly what happened anyway.
