    Nah

The 80e is a good platform, and I chose it due to budget.

If the car gets another auto it'll be a th400 w/brake - either rvmb or fmvb.

There are things I don't want to have to hammer out on my laptop - like shift points. The whole mph - idea frustrates me and the mph lead time that needed to happen to make the shift happen in time.

It's just a personal preference, I guess. If I would have went th400 from the beginning I doubt I'd be going back to the stick.

If you get the McLeod get a light unit. The mass of the twin makes launching a pain

Jeff - it's not that it didn't work. It was a cheap experiment. I learned a lot from it.

I like autos for drag racing - but this car just works with a stick and makes it somewhat unique or different at the track.

sucks to hear that the 80e venture didn't pan out for you, I know you just enjoy rowing the gears more anyways.

I've spent some considerable time thing about this lately.

Car will be going back to a t56.

    Plan is:
Faceplated - either Liberty or RPM depending on how backed up Liberty is when I have the $$$
Clutch - either mcleod RXT or a monster twin. I'd go with a monster 11" but I don't have the patience to mess with the over centering issues.
Flywheel - still debating if I'll go billet steel or one of the lightweight options.

Car is going into storage later this week

I'll have to save some $$ this winter to either put a built 4l80 or a faceplated t56 in it.

Joel - you figure I'm putting 600ish HP/TQ through it, it's got 100k on it.

    It's on borrowed time.

It doesn't flair on the shifts - it's just cooking the fluid in 3rd gear.

Surprised you are having issues with it, even as a stock 80e. What do you mean by slipping in "high gear?" you should only be hitting 3rd in the quarter right? And during a shift or in the gear?
