This shouldn't prevent the car from cranking but I would check that fuse to to be sure.
Yup, there is one up there. It's a power feed to the ECM I believe?

    • I will try all the above statements tonight or tomorrow when I get back out in the garage. Still doesnt make sense in my head why the car will have the symptoms it does. Keep in mind I was driving the car and then all of a sudden this happened, no warning no nothing.

          • well I think I have struck out. I cant figure out anything for the life of me, cant get power where I know I should have power, cant figure out its a VATS issue or not. I believe at this point I am doing more harm then good. I will just wait until I can get some help on it.

            • Dont know if this will help or not.. I had a similar problem with my 91 after I bought it. My car had an aftermarket alarm system installed that the previous owner told me nothing about. When I bought it they never mentioned it or gave me a keypad for the alarm. A few weeks after buying it I came out to go to work, and nothing. I had dash lights, but no power to the starter. My audio guy had an old delco keypad. He pushed the button and turned the key and it turned right over. I thought mine was the vats too, and went through a bunch of trouble shooting. Good luck Darren!

              • Ok guys riddle me this... Wire the car back up to the stock wiring after playing with connections and checking the starter, etc... Car fires right up like nothing was ever wrong! Ok so I start working on other things starting the car up here and there and fired up every time... Go to put wire nuts on the connections under the steering wheel (I'll solder them later just doing this to so if the problem comes back) and guess what the car won't start... We undo them and just touch them together and the car starts! Well Jon takes his time puts four wire nuts on nice and tight and the car starts. Been starting ever since. Even drove it to the gas station...

I'm just going to leave it alone and start it up and drive it only short distances for a while and see if it leaves me stranded again... If not in a week or so I'll solder the wires and cross my fingers.

But what changed? It's wired just like stock and it's starting....

In other news, new front rotors and brakes and such and here's the end result. Opinions please....

Why thank you! It came out pretty good in the end for the tools and experience I had to work with. Learning experience? Yes by far it was a lot of that, would I do it again, yes I would but very differently. Already thinking about that as well. I will for sure be out not sure if it will be any weekend left this year to make it back to woodward but the car is out and about frequently now. As long as the VATS issue doesnt come back.

Stay tuned this project is not over, just this phase. Right now I am in the "Drive the CRAP out of it phase, before I do it all again!"
