  • I always left the harness on the engine, just folded over on top of the engine. Same as you for the brake lines - pita, but dunno any easier way.

    • Harness on, disconnect at ABS block. Make sure they don't get caught, take it slow raising the body up.

      • I left the harness in the car and zip tied everything up. Ive only did it that way so I don't really know whats easier.

        • So this has been on hold for about 3 months. I had been looking for a new place to live, and I thought I had a good place firmly in mind. But after I discovered how messed up the engine was, I was forced to reconsider how badly I needed a garage so I could work on this thing. I had to go pedal-to-the-metal for a solid month or so searching for a new place, and long story short, I ended up buying a two-car garage with an attached house. I've been ridiculously busy this summer with the house and with some other stuff, so the Camaro had sadly been neglected. No longer. I finally got it towed from the shop where I had been working on it to the house.

Welcome to your new home, my old friend.

          • Glad you found a work space for it. That's not always easy.

            • Haha yeah, a minimum 2-car garage was a "must-have" when I was looking for houses for that exact reason.

              • Glad you've got the space ready to jam! I wish my garage was attached. Just makes things more convenient.

                      • My plans haven't changed. Get the head repaired, get the motor out, swap in the new piston, reassemble, drive.

                        • Finally got around to actually doing some work on this thing over the weekend. Pretty much just gutting in preparation for the engine removal. Next step is gonna be dropping the k-member and getting the motor out.

                              • I dropped the entire drivetrain out of my NBM Z28 and had it running in my Red Z28 the same day. Cannot remember, but I think I had to wait to take it for a spin as it was late at night.

I even swapped the k-member to the cleaner one at some point during that day. Not the funnest thing to do all by yourself, but it does bring out the ingenuity!
