  • I sandblasted my heads and then painted them with silver VHT. Turned out fantastic.

          • I'd paint them silver too. I think the silver paint would help keep the heads looking mildly "clean" whereas the bare aluminum would absorb dirt into the finish much easier.

            • Bought some paint this morning, its not really the shade I wanted so Im going to try it on something else first. It has a blue tint to it and I wanted more like wheel paint. Its VHT so I know its good but at this point I am going to be picky.

                • Nate check out my FB pics, I've got a couple on there. The color I bought was called "cast aluminum" I believe.

                  • Picked up my motor today. Everything looks good. Going to paint a bracket or two but its Clean Clean Clean.

The left is the blue I got this morning compared to bare aluminum

Fel Pro gaskets on the entire motor, top to bottom everything.

                    Genuine GM Optispark

Lots of parts ready to go back on the car

Painted one of the heads with a little VHT silver paint. Couldnt find "wheel paint" color so I went with this flat.

Cleaning my headers and y pipe tomorrow.

                    • Did you do the Impala gaskets to bump the compression?

EDIT: Everything looks great. The attention to detail will really pay off in the end.

                            • Got a lot of stuff done this weekend.

Heads painted, coil put back together, and started on cleaning bolts. Long and tedious hours, anyone thats every did this knows what I mean.

Lots of painted, cleaned, new, etc parts.

At this point all I am lacking is a tune.

Where my car is at, a slushy muddy, nasty mess of a driveway separates my car and my dads barn. Meaning its not going anywhere until it dries up. Hopefully in the next few weeks.

my spark plugs have a few thousand miles on them. They look kinda dirty and gross. TR55's.

                              What plugs should I run?

                              • What are you using to clean the bolts, Nate? If your dad has a drill press, get a wire wheel attachment that can be put in the drill press and it'll make cleaning all your bolts up a snap. That's what we did with my bolts when I was doing my build.
