  • [Project] Nate's Z28 Project

Got my car today. It is completely filthy, thus no good pictures. Kyle and I are going to de-stripe it and buff it Friday night. I will continue it in the next few weekends. You will get more pics then

    Already found a few problems.

Gas cap makes an air release noise when its opened, like opening a fresh jar of something. Sounds like it isn't venting? Anyone else have that?

Drivers window motor will not make it through the summer.

The sensor that tells the fan to turn on, the clip got broken when previous owner was putting plugs in it last weekend. Its on the front right side of the motor sticking straight out of the engine. Can I get that clip, or that whole new end some place???

E brake handle goes straight up and does nothing. Dont even know where to start and its pretty important I get that fixed.

After I fix all the little crap it will be a damn nice car. Billet Grill is coming off tomorrow, it may be sold already. I dont really like the radio, that may be sold already too.

    Already loving/hating the TC system.

Very cool Nate, Sounds like the ebrake cable is disconnected... you will need to start there and see if the line is there or if its been cut or whats up with that. Could be something simple like its just disconnected from the handle. Glad to see the car in your possession tho!

Congrats Nate, the fresh paint on the front end looks great. For the E-brake I had a similar problem on my suburban and it was that the cable was cut. so it is proly cut/ disconnected. to add to tacky this to get rid of ,get a different shift knob lol. you should do the same wheel treatment you did on your last car to this one, would make it look factory fresh.

lift the console off nate. there is a friction point on the cable right by the lever that wears every time you pull the handle. mine has taken a beating there but is still hanging on, so id check there.

Looks like you made about $0.30 well not considering the cost of the car

also nate, start your hunt now for !TCS parts. They may be hard to find and you need to get rid of that garbage.

Another suggestion: pop your headlights out and repaint the brackets a fresh black so they disappear in the pockets.

Wait is that how you tighten up the cable? With a setscrew? Mine's kinda loose and I'd like to tighten it up.

Looks pretty good Nate. Would go well with nightshaded or clear turn signals. I don't see any stripes?

My ebrake is self adjusting. If i loosen it, it automatically resets itself to a snug adjustment when i disengage the brake. did they change it on LS1s? I did notice the one on my V6 was quite a bit looser than my Z is. I really have to reef on the Z28s to fully engage it.

they are on the rear, it was in a front end collision so the stripes on the front went away with the new body parts and fresh paint

Wow, I forgot how much crap was under the hood of my car stock, lol. Is that an aftermarket front bumper? I noticed it dosent have the camaro emblem? Looks good, like Joel said, get rid of all the extra crap, and get that under hood clean. Looks like a good start man. Good luck. Eric L

Yes, I am looking for a better knob. Going to try and clean these wheels (with what I dont know) and just buy some better rims. Maybe 10 spoke 17's or C5 Z06 rims. Gonna have to rock these for the time being though.

Going to clean it first, then I will do that. Busy friday afternoon?

ya, and some bullets. Anyone know who those go to?

Going to keep the TC for know, I want to learn how well/not well the system operates then remove it if need be. This is my first V8 car ever, I am kinda noobish. Yes, I do want to paint the brackets some time.

Going to nightshade the front turn signals and the rear side turn signals. Going to leave the tail lights alone and just buff them up nice. Eventually I want 97+ tails.

fender bender, the car was parked and a truck drove through it. Yes three parts to the stripes, the fender on passenger side, passenger door, and drivers door. It looks so goofy, and the paint on the front is new and deep dark black, the rest is either mud or just nastyness.

He said he was buying OEM and asked if I wanted it filled, told him sure why not. It may be aftermarket, I have no way of telling.

You guys make me want to get it cleaned up like now. Have to wait till friday after work

Any ideas on the plastic clip that I need?

Going through all the crap in the glove box and I found this on the warranty information. Also set off my own car alarm some how. How do I kill that feature? Looks like the car was from the east side to begin with. I will have to do a carfax some time.

Does GMAC LSE mean that it was leased for 30 months?

Also, I googled the guys name and looks like he may be a Dr. Who knows.
