You'd be surprised what taking care of an engine can do...we pulled DJ's 5.0 apart in 2010 when it had around 177k miles as well (interesting...). Other than one bearing which was starting to groove, it was so clean...

Thanks man, pretty surprised since my car previously had a hard life.

Thanks, I have a lot more faith in modern oil now.

          • I'm just wondering as why you picked a hot cam as opposed to something else?

Fits the goals I had for my car.

Financially I couldnt justify spending 1300 dollars on a LE or AI cam swap kit when I could do a LS swap for 2k. Not to mention my motor needed a rebuild regardless of what cam I picked. Basically if I am going to buy my car again, I was going to end up with LS power. Decided to keep it an LT1 and do the hotcam. C4 section of corvette form is what really sold me on it. No one does a hot cam fbody build correctly, its always half assed(resulting in the poor reputation yet its the most common non stock cam).

                • Cause Lt1's are just such a damn good motor they can take a beating!

It will turn out awesome. Im not going to get butthurt over 30hp that I could have had with a bigger cam.

As Joel has always said, if the car can breath it will perform well. Car should breath quite well and be much more fresh feeling.

                    • It would have been nice to see you up the compression a tad more, but i still fully expect this to be one of the better hotcam builds ive seen. Ive seen some hotcam cars run awfully strong... munster's old car ran dead even with mine but he also had 4.10s
