    • i agree that a full turn seems excessive. Mine bottomed out a little past 3/4. But every setup is different and should be adjusted subjectively.

            • It was from the 4-bolt LT1 i bought. It looked like someone ran really bad oil in it, spun a bearing, and kept driving it that way

                  • Looking good sir.

So to recap its a freshen up with a Hotcam correct?
If so should be a fun street bruiser.

Oh what did you decide about the rockers?
I still would recommend engine running method.

Yes its a fresh rebuild 350 with full hotcam kit, full exhaust, and tune.

Currently rockers are half past and I will need to do the running method I think.

                      • Yeah like I said I tried doing it like 3 times with the engine off, then started it didn't like it so I did the running method. I think its the best.

Looks like ~330 to ~350 with a tune.
Sucks the rear ends in the Fbodies are crap, otherwise I would say get some gears in that puppy too.

Its whatever youre comfortable with. Engine running method was completely effing useless for me. I had no feedback whatsoever to tell where i was unless the lifter was bottoming put or i wasnt even at zero lash. Im willing to bet it will start and run just fine exactly the way it is now. How much past a half turn did it take to bottom the lifter? If youre close to halfway between zero and bottomed, you should be fine but it depends on the lifter.

Also, engine off method might be more effective after its been run once, so the lifters are fully primed with oil.

Theres a C4 with basically the exact setup I have that made 348. I dont know what the difference is- IRS vs Solid Axel but I expect to be pretty close to that. I wont have it dyno'd until it has a different exhaust.

Possibly No one does this much work and just turns the key without something coming up. Lots of systems to get back to normal (brakes, power steering, clutch, coolant, etc) Also depends on a pigment change I am thinking about.

Hopefully soon. We dont have kids yet but I think of it like waiting 9 months to see what your unborn child looks like. lol

This is what I am thinking too.

Going to fire it up, get coolant in it, check for leaks, and see how bad the rockers need to be adjusted. Take it from there.

How much run time before the first oil change?
