Good question, Larry might know but when he calls me back I will see how much it will be do go even bigger, if they don't cost much more, why not? I'm more or less worried about labor, he hasn't given me a straight up price on account of him not knowing what he has to do to the block, now that he knows I will be finding out.Originally posted by Fbomb View Post.040 pistons or larger any more money?2002 Z28 Camaro A4

when we did B's car he said they were pretty much all the same price he went with .40 over because he could get them faster. You might consider having him install them with the new rings, then you'll have a warrenty and know they are fitted correctly. usually they charge couple hundred to put crank, bearings and pistons in block.sigpic

I have been thinking about this while at work for the last 4.5 hours and depending on what he comes up with for prices I just might end up holding off on the project for awhile.
My 99 is calling for a full exhaust and an LS6 intake and tons of suspension mods. I need to remind myself why I bought the 93 back and that was for a slow project car. I believe I have accomplished quite a bit so far.
So ill see what he has for prices and go from there. I think ill end up paying what I owe and sitting on it for a bit. Good thing is I found a place to store the 93 for quite somd time. Any opinions?2002 Z28 Camaro A4

Yeah like I said yesterday, make your plan, and go. Just imho don't skimp on engine build, it will catch up to ya. Only thought to cross my mind, is what is your final goal with 93. If its a track/race project or just fix it up. If its fix it up, you could finish faster and then sell it. Take your money and hopefully your profit and use that to get mods done on 99. I think once your engine builder gives you price you'll be able to decide to stall or go. I think because of the 1 bearing cap being scored your looking at line bore and new crank & rod bearing too, but thats just from your pictures you posted. I am mentioning this so you don't get suprised by more cost. For your sake I hope I am wrong.sigpic

Can you argue that it's "revolutionary"? Perhaps. Just because it's "new" and "different" doesn't mean it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Well if you plan on cam for the car, then for sure, do the main and rod bearings. do you have headers for engine? Putting in cam without letting it breath would be no gain. also now would be time to do the better valve springs, then your ready for cam 1:6 roller rockers. Its hard to do in steps. the last thing would be the cam. The good news is your throttle body is more than you'll need with low to mild cam, so no change there. I know you said your new to all this is why I am offering you some help. the easiest thing to install with engine in car at later date is the cam. It slips in and out effortlessly. 1. Since engine out and apart now would be the time to get main and rod bearings done, cyl bored, line bore if necessary. Heads I would get valve guilds and seals done, new valve springs and retainers. Definitely get headers and install them with engine out. New motor mounts too. 2. After engine in car and at a later date you can install cam, roller rockers, new lifters. this can be done by removing intake man. and valve covers, and timing cover on front of engine. Of coarse if you have the funds now would be time to do it all.sigpic

I do all my parts in a regular house oven (electric) but obviously not the actual house oven on account of fumes and food don't really mix and what not.Originally posted by Gottork View Postis that the powder coating oyu do in a small over or do you have a actual setup for it? Yes I can do other colors, but I can get satin black, gloss red, gloss yellow, and white for real cheap, like 1/4 of the price of any other color. Most of my bolts will be chrome and I will be doing my oil pan and valve covers a charcoal or silver.Originally posted by bigjon88 View Postthey parts look awesome.... can u do other colors as well?
Thank you for all of your great info Larry I really appreciate it! I believe I am going to do everything at once internal wise (cam, rockers, pushrods, springs, lifters, bearings etc). As for the headers I don't have any yea but I plan on it. I just didn't see a point in trying to get them now when I have tons of other stuff I need to get until I am at that point. Which same goes for water pump, plugs, wires, TD's etc. Since this is a project and I still have my 99 to have fun with I will hold off on engine stuff, as I have PLENTY of other stuff that will need to be done to the car like deleting the rest of the A/C, tons of body work, some interior parts including the headliner, visors, and I have to do something with the cracked dash. I have a drivers side window motor to do yet. I would rather not put the engine back together to do this all again (in some sense). But as for an update, im still waiting on a call from machine shop.Originally posted by Plum Nuts View PostWell if you plan on cam for the car, then for sure, do the main and rod bearings. do you have headers for engine? If any of you saw the pic of this timing chain cover before I cleaned and sandblasted it ... wow, what a change!!!
Im not sure what exactly these are, they look like tiny cracks but dont go all the way through by any means, shoud I worry? Also I can replace all of the seals correct?
I was going to sandblast the valve covers and coat them but I think I am going to paint them instead. I attempted to clean them today...
