Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!

I bought my old 93 Z28 back, now it needs some TLC
Has anyone used the Alex springs? I read somewhere that lloyd has been recommending them. If it was close to competitors in price I would go with the name brands but they are $100 bucks. I have been hearing good things from the guys on tech.

He replied:
I would not run those lobes with those springs. the springs are a GREAT VALUE for the $$$ and I have had people run 224/230 .560/.544 110 LSA cams with them and have no problems but*I would not go with the higher lift and faster ramp speed lobes that you have.

Least expensive spring set up that I would use would be* . . . .

You will need flat shims and shim the spring to 1.770-1.780".
*
they will have 150 lbs on the seat and work with that cam with out even breathing hard.*

On another note, after 2 weeks of my buddy having my timing chain cover he still didn't get it welded up. I stopped by his house and picked it up. I have taken the shirt off my back for that kid too many times and he can't return the slightest favor. I have known him since we were in diapers...
I'll be dropping the cover off to another friend today, he said his neighbor can get it done.
I'll probably be ordering the springs, retainers, locks and lifters today. Then Ill be dropping off my heads to get milled. How much extra do you guys think they'll charge to install my valvetrain on my heads?

Ordered the springs, retainers and valve locks.
Went with the Howards Lloyd recommended. It was $164 out the door, should get here Friday
Also ordered the lifters, they should be here tomorrow.
Once all the valvetrain comes in, I'll drop it off and the heads to get milled. Then it's head and intake gaskets

gotcha I was confused when you mentioned dropping off the valvetrain with the heads, but I assume the machine shop is going to assemble?
Yeah I'm going to see how much extra it will cost for them to install the valvetrain while the heads are there getting milled. If it's expensive (which I can't see it being that much more) my buddy said he can do it.

So the springs I bought that Lloyd recommended are an o.d of 1.4xx and a stock lt1 spring o.d is 1.2xx.
Will I have to machine the seat on the head to make it fit? Hopefully putting a lot of it together tonight
