    Primed. Probably paint it tomorrow.

            • Thanks guys.

I finally found someone with the pro-jection oil pressure saver. My guess is it won't be in until next week.

Once that comes in you guys will finally get to see some assembly pics

Question: how do I get the old pick up tube off the old pump and safely get it on the new pump. I know they make a install tool. Is it needed?

              • IDK about getting the old one off, is it crimped on?

Needs to be welded on the new pump.

                • I haven't tried very hard on getting it off yet. I might put it in a vice.

Yeah I'm going to throw some tacks on it once I get it 3/8" from the bottom of a pan.

                  • You're going to want more than tacks. Make sure you get good penetration on your welds. Personally I would TIG it fully once you tack it with a MIG if that's easier

Ok, I'll take it TI my buddies and have him do that and the hole in the water pump cover.

                          Good plan!

When I look at Meissen's oil pickup tube that fell off his pump as they were removing it, it only had one tack weld on it. The weld did not penetrate into the oil pump casting. I don't know what it is cast of, but it can be welded to by a good welder with a TIG unit

                          • Its just cast iron IIRC. Which is pretty hard to weld on, just like the center section of our wonderful 10 bolts (and many other rear ends). Thats why most guys who do 8.8 conversions end up bolting on a TQ arm bracket as opposed to welding.

EDIT: But it is TOTALLY possible, if you take it somewhere and they say its not, go somewhere else.

                            • Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a bolt on pick up tube?
