Some questions about my LT1

Sounds like it needs to be rebuilt, then have a real tune applied...

Pretty sure it was a mail in. Once he gets into the motor we are going to decide what needs to be done. If the motor is really trashed, we'll just be putting in a new motor and it won't have a Cam in it probably. If it gets rebuilt I'm going to try to get a smaller cam for it if I can afford it. I'm thinking with selling the old one if it's not damaged should pay most of it. How much is a tune? Thought I heard somewhere that it's just like $100 or so. Anyone know of a place close to Midland?

Mine was $250, but it's "mail-order", but it's not a one time deal. I've datalogged and had the tune tweaked many times. Trifecta is definitely one of those "mail-order" companies that actually does good shit.

If there is a place to get your car tuned for a $100 I would love to know! I think most people on the site have paid $250+ to the top guys around. TJ, Steve, Phil...

a good tune at most speed shops is $400-550 and its worth every penny, hope its not too bad.

yeah but by who? look at the reciept. A mailorder tune is like letting a blind person play darts its nothing I'd personally take a gamble with because every car is different and they react differently to mods.

That's why mine rocks! But it's not like most "mail-order" tunes. I'd still love to get it dyno-tuned, but for the most part, with all the tweaks I've had made thanks to datalogging and what not, my car seems to run just about perfect.

But like I said, dyno tune would be great, just costs about $200 more than what I have...

I don't know alot about engines (as it's showing in this thread) but I would agree with you 100% on the tune thing.

Receipt says "Howell Engine Developments, INC Fuel Injection Appliations" 6201 Industrial Way Marine City, Michigan. Was done on 6-12-08. So I don't know where he got the year from. Paid $350 for it.

I think Howell does dyno tuning, that price seems really high for any mail order tune.


EDIT nevermind I just looked them up and of course they are mail order, and wow thats expensive. I bet that tune is way off.
