Luckly LT1 motors can be had for cheap. It may be stock and have iron heads but you could get a motor for as little as 600 bucks. Post up exactly what you want and we can find darn near anything. Seriously, the people on this site are like craigslist champions or something.

The engine is acting like it's jammed. He tried turning the crank and was unable too.
Darren what's up?
Once I find out what I need I'll probably be throwing a thread up. We are looking at the block Ricky from Bay City has, and my mechanic knows of a couple other motors.

idk just one day it starts and runs fine with a few mild hiccups and the next day it is seized? Did he take the belt off and try turning the engine over like it was suggested? If not then I would start there, I mean is he sure that the engine has seized up and is no good?sigpic

The old owner drove it from Swartz Creek to Freeland. I then drove it to Midland. Then on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I drove it around Midland. Tuesday I drove it to Saginaw. Thursday on my way to work it died.
My mechanic did try turning it over with the belt off, but no luck. He's going to throw it on his lift and see if he can get the crank to move any before he starts taking it apart to give us an idea of what we might need.

By "turning it over" are we talking about trying to start it with the key, or putting a socket on the harmonic balancer and trying to turn the motor over by hand?Originally posted by SoulTerror View PostThe old owner drove it from Swartz Creek to Freeland. He tried the key and did something by hand. I wasn't there when he did it.
No he has not drained the oil yet, that should be later this week once he gets it on the lift.

Ya I was driving down the road at cruising speed when I started hearing a knocking noise and shortly after the engine just stopped. No bang or anything like that, just stopped. No smoke, no fluids.

He had the computer tuned. He gave me the stock one as well and a receipt for the tune on the computer that is in the car. I do think it needed to be re-tuned though.
