I'd start with 2000. More time sanding but less time buffing. Starting with 1500 is a risk of having scaratches after buffing.

I agree depending on how bad the peel is... If the "pores" are deep enough id feel comfortable starting with 1500 and then switching to 2000 well before the peel is entirely sanded away. That way you have a point of reference that will ensure you get enough sanding in with the 2000 to eliminate the scratches from the 1500.Originally posted by Curt_irocz View PostI'd start with 2000. Yup that works. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Not really a wrong answer. On my car I used 3000 also.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostI agree depending on how bad the peel is... trueOriginally posted by Curt_irocz View PostI hand sand. I have used the new 3M dry sand 1500 2000 da paper. It's nice for production. But I hate the swiggles it leaves form the paper loading up.'91 Camaro Modded, LSx, House of Kolor Intense White, lowered, GS chrome 18" wheels, 14" Brembo CTS-V on all 4 corners, LS rear end, FP suspension components

This stuff is a LOT cheaper than what we bought at autozone, its wet or dry, and it is adhesive backed

We use 3m's 3 step system. It's expensive but nice.
If you want to own a cheap wheel get one from harbor freight. Somewhere around $45. The best? No way, but it will work and it beats the $200+ dewalt and makita . IMO.
Looks good Darren. Keep up the good work!2002 Z28 Camaro A4

Thanks guys! We will have to look into that Jentry, Jon is going to the paint store tomorrow so we'll see what they have for us...
anyhow!

Its nice to have "people" um I mean friends! Thanks Jentry for coming out and showing us the ropes on wet sanding and getting us started. He brought over a polisher too but we are no where ready to use it...

Didn't get too far into the wet sand but got a good start on it. Already tell a big difference once the orange peel is gone. I think it will look pretty good when she's all polished up.
Joel you available this weekend? I have been running around crazy recently havent had the time to sit down and give ya a call.
EDIT: Dont worry about the gaps on the fenders they are not fully adjusted or bolted in, still working on that!sigpic

Can you argue that it's "revolutionary"? Perhaps. Just because it's "new" and "different" doesn't mean it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Just an FYI, for my aftermarket fender to line up well I had to hit the rear top mount a bit with a rubber mallet to get the fender to line up alright
