    • aim the rotor to where you are gonna put the #1 plug wire. then look at the bottom of the dis and see where the oil drive slot is. Can be a pain to line up.
Or get the rotor close( have to take into account it turn some while sliding in) then bump the engine over> the dist will eventually align itself with the oil pump.
Depending on cam material, roller or flat the gears are diff becuase non roller cams have lobes that turn the lifters in the bore, which also pushes the cam forward which will cause wear to the wrong gear

            • shoulda told me you were still struggling last night me and my friends woulda came over and tackled that right away.

if its not sitting all the way, your oil pump drive thing could be in the wrong spot, try moving it with a long flat head screwdriver.

              • try rotating the crank a little to see if the distributor will slot into the oil pump?

Jon is the man. Within minutes he figured out the issue and did this.

Got 60 PSI of oil pressure too so we must have done something right.

                      • If I could figure out how to get these AN fittings on the braided line then yes this could start up soon. But that's proving to be a chore. Any hints?

I'm just pleased oil pressure was good and no leaks...

The oil drive slot and rotor was not matched up. Jon rotated the oil drive on the distributor and dropped it in.

Any more insight rather then push and turn. Having troubles with the fraying on the end of the braded line into the fittings.

                            • To keep the fraying to a min. Wrap a piece of electrical tape tightly around the hose. Then cut the hose right through the tape with a cut-off wheel. You can keep the tape on the hose and insert that into the fitting.
