I am not using the stock parts. I fit a piece of flat black plastic to the opening and placed the led self sticking strip to it and RTV'd it in place. Then I cut some lens material 3mm x 3mm pillow type stock and fit it snug to the opening. After I tint the lens a bit and find some sort of diffusing material to try and hide the "hot spots" of the led's, I will then RTV it in place flush with the body. I hope this helps.

Did you change the LED color of the steering wheel controls? Love the rear bumper LED's.
I bet if you and your son made some of those people would buy them...like me.
Yea, you right and I wish I would have known that this guy does side work because he does an awesome job trimming our properties.
LED's - unfortunately, if the steering wheel controls are anything like the window switches and the radio knobs, they are molded red plastic that cannot be removed.
I bring it up to him, it will go well with his halo's

Thanks guys!
Not to get into a long drawn out story about the steering wheel but..... I found a vendor on LS1Tech that would not only wrap the wheel in Alcantara but would use my wheel as a pilot for the thickening process.

Well, the story would have been a little different if only I had known that I needed to send the wheel to Poland to get this work done.
So anyway, the wheel gets shipped to Poland about two months ago, and we start the communication process of exactly what I wanted to have done to this wheel. Now, I'm not going to rag on this company because I they do have good products.
I had also ordered boots and door inserts which came in a reasonable amount of time but the thread was too dark. So, I knew that the wheel had not been started yet and told them to use a light blue thread on the wheel and to send me a spool of that same thread so I could do something with the boots and inserts that I already have. I had a friend that does "side work" run the light blue stitching on the parts I have and that is what is shown in the pics.
My wheel was put on their website to show the thickness procedure (http://www.redlinegoods.com/SteeringWheelPadding.php) because I was the first fbody person to get their wheel through this process. I knew that going in to this.
So the wheel arrived last week and it really is not what I expected as far as a quality standpoint. I'm not going to get into everything and I'm not going to ***** to the company either, because I believe that it is the best that they could do.
The funny part after I had placed the order is that friend who does the "side work" (oem concept vehicles), could have done this for me (local).
He seen the wheel and said that he does those all the time and would redo if I wanted him to. I will wait now until next winter to see if I'm just too anal or if it is good enough.

After this 50% of mi-fbody is going to have a suede wrapped steering wheel.
The gauge overlays are awesome, especially your top speed. Where'd you have that done?
Thanks!
6LE McCord from LS1Tech. Unfortunately, I don't think they are making them any longer.Last edited by BlackBirdDaddy; April 16th, 2012, 07:04 PM.
