ok... i was wondering because none of mine had any issues.. but they were/are 93,94,95,95 fbodiesOriginally posted by Atrus View PostAfter a certain year - was it '99 that they changed? - the panels have an issue with "bubbling". Something about the adhesive used? Anyway, guys with later 4th gens harvest the sail panels from the early fourth gens as the adhesive used is inert and doesn't deteriorate and "bubble". There's no way to fix one of the later panels once it begins to bubble.
That's my recollection anyway - I could be a little off here or there, but don't blame me - I don't have a sail panel
LTXtech.com is my drug.

Actually yes Chad, it is has been painted since last year and I just never replaced it. Now is finally the time.
What happened to the original sail that u needed to replace it tho.
Right on Kevin. Some '00-'02 F-bodies have had problems with the bonding adhesive reacting with the f/g and "bleed" through the surface. This especially happens when the surface is "broken" by color sanding and/or repainting as I did and several others have done. Also with it being black, the sun compounded matters and you could literally see and touch the oozing!
After the first repaint is when I experienced the ooze. So, took it back down to f/g, sealed and repainted it. It came back!!
It seems to be a common problem that can only be solved by replacing with an '98-'99 sail or aftermarket as they do not have that problem. I had found my part used last year and it came off a '98.Last edited by BlackBirdDaddy; February 19th, 2014, 08:54 AM.

No, just a plain ordinary stock panel to replace the one that has been "bleeding."
