I have a friend with an MS3 laying around. I'm not sure if he wants to sell it but I can give you his number if you want to shoot him a txt. Cam went mid 11's in a members car a few years back.

Sorry for being a noob on this but what is the difference between a lg4 and lq9? Benefits?

        To put it simply

The LQ4 has dished pistons giving it a lower static compression ratio. They are commonly used in boosted applications because of this. Lower compression usually means you can run more boost and make more power before it detonates on pump gas.

The LQ9 has flat pistons giving it a higher static compression ratio which makes it more desirable for a NA application which is what Spencer is using it for. Higher compression on an NA motor is going to make more power and torque across the board.

The hint was the single feed fuel line.

Replace the oil pump and go with an LS2 HD timing chain - required.

I thought about not touching the heads, but now there off, going to need gaskets, and I can get them milled for next to nothing. But thinking about it, I guess id need new pushrods too wouldnt I.... Damn.

If I took say .030 off id need pushrods that are .030 shorter right? So 7.40 - .030 = 7.37? Do they make a pushrod that length?

                On to todays progress......
Got the 6liter on to a engine stand and down to the shortblock, no prep or paint unfortunately.....

5.3 and trans are removed, ls6 intake, headers, wiring, etc have been removed from the 5.3 awaiting placement on the 6liter

Pretty much it. Got to finish pulling accessories off of the 5.3, get the cam out, unbolt the converter and trans, pick the 5.3 up and out of the k-member, move the oil pan and accesories onto the 6liter and drop it back in.

Going to order a timing chain and a new set of springs here in a bit.

                    Good progress Spencer
Just wanted to throw this out,
When you mill the heads then add the LS6 intake and the TR224 you will essentially have a higher squeeze, mild cammed LS2 and that's nothing to sneeze at.
Would love to have a similar setup for my Bird.

Wow that lq9 is soooo clean. Probably super mega low miles. We run engines on the dyno for 20 hours and look at the top of the pistons and they arent that clean...

btw they are 10 to 1 compression although Im sure you know that.

Yup, motor looks ridiculous clean on the inside, got to poking around the inside of it today, and there is markings and writing all over it, inside the block, on all the rods, bottom of pistons. looks to be with a paint marker type thing, I cant believe all of that is still there.
