Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

So last night, I removed the oil pan from my old engine, just to see what it looked like inside. Surprisingly, I didn't see as much carnage as I was expecting. I did find this piece of aluminum:
And this piece:
Couldn't tell where they came from, though.

So it looks like my engine install is going to have to wait birdie2000. I thought that the shop had the material needed for powdercoating, and I would just have to pay for what I used. I took the class tonight, and it turns out that I have to go out and buy my own powder. And for headers, I need to get ceramic powder, which I can't just pick up at Harbor Freight. If I can get it by next weekend, I'm probably going to have to do it on the 26th.

I'm pissed at myself for not knowing this stuff sooner. This ruins my plans for this weekend AND next weekend.

I've tried a few of the publicly available powders, no good. You need to find someone with a commercial license to get the good stuff. I have a couple friends that work for a major parts coating company here in GR, maybe they can help out. Got my pistons coated with molybdenum for free

The whole reason for me waiting this long so I could take the class was so I could do them myself...and GR is much too far away.

So after trying (and failing) at sandblasting/prepping my old headers last night, I'm just gonna get new stainless ones. If I'm going to spend $200+ on getting them professionally done, I'm just going to spend that money on new ones.
mcalus and birdie2000 , does Saturday (the 26th) still work?

I'm knee deep in a lift kit on a jeep for a friend. We'll probably be working on it this weekend but I'll know tonight if it's gonna be Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunately it's on the lift at my shop so I have to be present when they're working on it. If I'm not working on that though, I'll be there.

Thanks, just let me know.

I think the stainless headers would work well for you.
You might be able to sell yours and put the money towards the stainless headers.
That's my thinking as well.
