Dope style is just mounting the cooler horizontally under the car instead of vertically.

Just start the car and cycle it through the gears. Check the fluid and add as needed. Its much easier to add fluid then it is to take it out.

      • So my next question: tune. I'm considering getting a mail-order tune (probably pcmforless.com), if nothing else for a decent baseline. When I looked for stuff before, it was really tough to find anyone who still does LT1s, and the people I did find were like an hour away. So I'd get a mail-order tune, use that probably for this season, then maybe get a street tune a bit later down the road. Thoughts?

        • I would just have Steve tune it. Its worth driving an hour to Port Huron vs a mail order tune IMO.

          • I'm concerned that my car won't even be driveable with the stock tune, so I would have to get it towed all the way up there. Not to mention I really don't want to drive that thing in the snow/salt.

            • Mail him your PCM and he will put a base tune on it so you can drive it up to him.

If you don't want to drive it in the salt why don't you just wait until spring to get it tuned?

would make the most sense to me. lol considering your not driving the car right now anyway.

                • Well I don't plan on driving the car until spring, but I'd like to keep it somewhere else once it's fully reassembled (i.e., somewhere I can keep it indoors). I'll also need to get my exhaust welded back up (since we had to cut it to take the thing apart).

                  • Steve can do a baseline tune. If you're planning on eventually getting a street tune, personally I wouldn't waste the money getting a mail order tune. It's just doubling the cost.

                    • Was that a new converter? If it was I would be very concerned about starting it up dry.....

                      • it isn't a new converter, I got it from mcalus after he did his 6-speed swap. I assume he drained it, though (Mike, correct me if I'm wrong).

                          • So I tried firing it up today. I can hear the fuel pump prime, and there is a loud "click," which I believe is the starter, but no crank. I know that there's any one of a thousand things that can be wrong the first time you try to start it once it's back together, but I have no idea where to start. Thoughts?

                            • Silly first thought but... battery?

Also, check the wiring at the starter and all your grounds.
