You're riding in some real hoopties then. Hawk Pads and decent rotors get your real far in an Fbody.

          • OK guys and gals, I really need your help.

Just did the BCM bypass so that it generates a "key ok" signal to the pcm and the car still will not start.
I can post pics when I get home but we hooked this bypass box into dark blue pin 25 on the red block on the PCM. Got the negative hooked up and 12v switched power. Light on the bypass box comes on and says its working. When I try to start the car the lights all flash like they should, and when I go to Start, it does nothing and security stays lit for 3 min.

            What else could this be?

I dont think the security is the problem because we have tried two different bypass methods and my most recent one is spot on.

Could it be the PCM its self? I noticed it was wet when pulled it out today. Also when I drove the car last I hit a massive bump pulling into a gas station. Would start after that. The orginal owner said the car was finikey and he thought it was the key.

Any ideas? We have run out of knowledge on the subject matter

            • Ok from the top Nate, what does the car do. does it crank over and not fire? or doesn't even crank over? etc etc. Maybe we've been chasing the gremlin down the wrong path. go to shbox.com get wire diag. find relay from start bypass mod see if that picks or gets signal to pick relay. At this point need more info.

Car will not crank just sits there with the security light on. I just took videos and am uploading them to youtube right now. With those maybe people will understand better.

                • At the risk of sounding like an idiot(and I always do on camera) but here are some videos that show you whats going on.

I am thinking I need a new BCM or PCM.

                  • Try throwing in a differant PCM and see if thats the problem. You can even use an OBD1 pcm, the only differance is the knock sensor iirc. Eric L

So if I had a OBD1 PCM it would work just the same as a OBD2 PCM?

                      Went PCM shopping, not cheap.

and did you say that Its possible to disable the whole vats system?

How do I test my pcm to see if its good?

                      • Pcms are not cheap, but if you can find someone to let you plug thiers in and see if thats the problem would help. And with tuning software you can disable vats. I have the obd1 stuff, but no obd2 tuning software. And I dont know how to test the pcm other than throwing someone elses in there and trying it. Eric L

Is it plug and play to use a newer pcm?

                            • For your application a 1996/1997 LT1 pcm is plug and play. To use a 1994/1995 pcm you would need to replace the knock sensor in the block. I believe thats it. Eric L
