I think the door switch arms it-like mine. My car didn't come with a fob either, which is why I'm trying to program a new one to it but it won't work!

my car does the same thing. if you manual lock it as in slide the lock with your fingers the alarm doesnt engage but if you use the lock button it engages the alarm there for opening the door with the key and not getting the key into the ignition in a timly fashion trips the alarm. as far as i know its how these cars work.

Actually I am - heading home with sean's trailer to pick my car up and im running a pretty tight schedule

As for the plastic clip - try searching around on shbox.com. that site has just about everything.

looks like u better rip the alarm out then... factory or aftermarket ?

its probably factory. My 99 had one, but i never had a problem with it. Pretty sure it would disable even if i used the key but the keyfob worked quite well on that car so i cant say for sure.

When I turn the key on, does the TC make a noise? Sounds like a fan or a electric motor is starting when i turn the key to acc.

pop the hood and leave it "on" and see if its your cooling fans... Mine are hard wired into the ignition..

Does it stay on, or is it the fuel pump priming?

My fan was hardwired as well.

Its not the FP and the fans dont appear to work because of the broken clip mentioned earlier. I will get some pics at lunch so I can show you what I am talking about. Pics speak much more.

I would to, and I think joel can help me just hard wire the fan's to switches. That way I can just turn the low fan on when i turn the car on, use the high fan when sitting in traffic. My previous car didnt have a working temp gauge, this one does

Drove it yesterday home and it staid at about 165 ish, I had the heat on. Ill get a pic in a half hour

As for the alarm - i actually seem to remember ... at least part of it... it being located in the passenger rear quarter panel near the spare tire and antenna. Im not positive, but its an easy place to check.

Just hard wire your cooling fans into the ignition, that way you wont have to fuss about getting that little plastic clip. I have mine wired into the ignition but also into a kill switch in case I am working on the car and need the car on but dont want the fans on. Works great, I did this because when I got the car the sensor that told the fans to come on didnt work and I was in a bind. I actually like the way they are on my car, just a thought tho.

both fans running full-time on an LT1 would not be a good thing. Especially high speed (both fans) draw some serious amperage, enough that you can feel it pulling on the alternator. LT1s run very cool as long as there is air moving through the radiator, so 90% of the time they dont need to be on at all. Its when you are sitting in traffic you will realize how much you need them.

Also nate - try turning on the air conditioning. A/C is supposed to automatically trigger the low speed fan. before i had my fan switch, thats how i would cool my car off.

I think if I could just get the low fan working, I should be ok. High fan doesnt seem like it would ever turn on more.

I know Joel has switches so I hope to have him help me with with this.

They run no fan until 226 though right?

^see my edit. if that trick works you really have nothing to worry about. I rarely use my high-speeds.

Yeah, dual fans use a lot of current - it about maxes out my friend's alternator on his fox body when both fans run.
