Congrats! My Formula has a crappy Sony Explode head unit as well. Need to pull it out and put my old Kenwood in. Good luck with the purchase!

My car seems to have one of those alarms that go off too, so I disconnected the horn. Didn't come with a key fob and it didn't work when I tried programming a new one to it, which is my next goal-to finally be able to lock/unlock/pop the hatch with a remote. Trick is to not lock it with the switch in the car, use the manual lock and the key instead. If that doesn't work you can disconnect the horn. Maybe wire a switch to it. I figure mine's loud enough that people know I'm there.
Used to own a Firebird.

Opened the door with the key, I locked it with the electric button just as fbomb said.Originally posted by MP81 View PostHow'd you set off the alarm? Bump into it?
Was that stripper clip in the console when you got it?
Looks like a nice base.

Umm - no shit. It's because when you open the door with the key, you haven't disarmed the alarm - that's what the key fob button does. The alarm sees it as an intrusion, it just know the door was opened, but the alarm is still armed.
If you arm the alarm, and still decide to use the key, find the disarm button, put the key in the ignition and turn it to on, and then press the disarm button.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
