  • Surge is because the plugs are loading up with fuel a little when I get on and off the throttle moving slowly and parking. Doubt you'll have the problem with an auto.

Anyone know where I can get a 160' t-stat for cheap? It's the one piece with aluminum housing and t-stat.

    • my car has a very slight surge at very low speeds, but its nothing intolerable, I would expect your cam won't have much if any Mike.

      • Yes, much worse in a 6-speed where you have a direct connection between the crank and the wheels. If I drop below 1500rpm like when idling through a parking lot it gets VERY jerky. Being that you guys have stalled autos I wouldn't see it being a problem at all. The driving surely outweighs the driveability though.

Yeah should've, original motor on the cutout was destroyed when it kissed pavement...I will be moving the cutout further back into a recessed area in the floorboards so I should be ok and not lose any clearance when I'm done. Ran out of time and that was where I had to cut a corner. Going to get some 3" pipe and weld the Y for the cutout in, then have a slip-fit connector between the ypipe and that pipe.

Anyways cam surge is just something you have to live with. I know exactly what you talking about when you say idling in 1st through a parking lot gets bad. Steves goat did the exact same thing. I even yelled at him the 1st few times because i thought he was doing it on purpose lol.

You still liking my cam recommendation?

If your around this summer you are going to have to pick me up and we can go take some real videos of the car

With a proper tune a stalled auto car should only surge when the converter is locked. Even then it should be very minimal.

                            • yep, completely agree. My car surges pretty bad rollling around in 1st gear. I usually just rest the weight of my foot on the clutch so it slips just enough to absorb the surging, but keep rolling. Something an automatic does by default via the torque converter.

                              • I'm loving the cam so far, torque curve picks up right around 3k or a little lower and pulls all the way up to the 6700rpm redline. As far as the surging goes I usually just apply the slightest pressure to the throttle and it gets it to stop.

I just ordered some more stuff, appearance, but I thought I'd share. I'm going to keep it a secret for now.
