No it wouldn't. That is why they balance the rotating assembly (rods, pistons, crank) any counterweight is taken off the crank itself and the rods. No weights should be added to the balancer or flexplate.

ok another question. the mls headgaskets that i bought and installled. they were torqued down but never heated cause the motor never ran. are they still good? what about the new front, rear, and valley cover gaskets. all were new. can they be reused? trying to keep the cost down so i can be sure that my car makes it out this yearsigpic

I wouldn't re-use the head gaskets because they're compressed. Others you'll probably be fine.Originally posted by Formula Z View Postok another question. the mls headgaskets that i bought and installled. they were torqued down but never heated cause the motor never ran. are they still good? what about the new front, rear, and valley cover gaskets. all were new. can they be reused? trying to keep the cost down so i can be sure that my car makes it out this year

ya the head gaskets once they are torqued there not reusable, its cheap insurance to have new. as far as the front and rear cover they are rubber so they are good. so u going to have it out for the meet and greet?sigpic

I'd replace the head gaskets for sure, the front you can probably get away with but not the rear.Doing less with more

I was always told that a good MLS head gasket can be reused many times as long as it has not been damaged.
As for reusability, MLS gasket suppliers say MLS gaskets should not be reused because the embossing may not fully recover once the gasket has been through a thermal cycle. But as long as the gasket appears to be in good condition when it is removed, many racers find they can reuse MLS gaskets with no problems. And if the surface coating has a damaged spot or two, it can often be repaired with a light coating of RTV silicone.
