Yep you know the block can't be bored as Larry mentioned and that does seem like a lot to me. Look around and you'll see you can find brand new forged shortblocks from shops for right about that price.Doing less with more

I agree, I spent so much rebuilding this LS2 that I could have went stroker right off the bat for a few hundred more and some more down time. I'd say its worth it. Then you can go with big heads and cam down the road to optimize it all.Doing less with more

well stopped down at the machine shop today. looks like a hone job, forged mahle pistons, new rings, rod, main, and cam bearings and arp hardware to hold it all together. crank has been turned and polished. total on this is $1300. anything else that should be done to the shortblock while its there??sigpic

Forgive me for not reading the whole thread, but if you are doing all this to an LS1 block, you should have them shave the chunk of metal off of the protrusion in the valley cover area so you can do the LS1 valley cover conversion for the better crankcase ventilation system. sounds like a good setup to me, Mahle pistons are nice and of course the ARP stuff is always a great idea.Doing less with more

thanks guys. well its going to be there for a little while. im just going to make payments on it over the summer until its paid off. car wont be out this season anyways so no hurry. trying to figure out some other things i can do while the car is down without spending tons of money. im looking for suspension parts as i want to make sure im hooking with the new found power.sigpic
