  • I wouldn't recommend using scotch brite on the mating surfaces Mike, I was always told do it by hand and gasket remover and a plastic ice scraper work wonders, you can also use a razor blade but use caution.

    • 3-jaw puller hooked to the inside of the pully?

      • Yup, 3 jaw, hooked to the CENTER, if you try to hook it to the outside where the belt rides 1 of 3 things happens, if the puller flys off, it breaks the lip, or it separates the outer ring from the inner one. None of which is the optimum scenario, lol. Theres 3 little like tabs that worked good for me.

        • Hope mine's not too hard to get off because I'm doing it in car...but on the upside of things I can get a pulley installer kit for when it goes back on because I just got an oem replacement bolt.

          • even with the motor pulled out, 3 jaw puller, and an impact, it was still a *****, lol. hope putting it back on is easier.

            • Did you spray any PB on the pulley where it meets the crank when you were pulling it?

                    • I know it's a little late, but those 3M scotchbrite pads are a big no-no for prepping the head surface. When you use them they shed abrasive off the pad which gets flung everywhere. Be sure and clean up your block/bores and valley REALLY well before assembling.

                        • well today i re-installed my rear end with "imagegtp" (cousin robb). went in without any issues, except i pulled the wires out of the traction control sensor plug when i plugged it in to early and the rear shifted and pulled the wire to tight, so i have to fix that once i figure out which connection they came out of, DOH!. its nice to see the car start coming back together though, even if its something simple like that, lol.

we started attempting to replace his intake manifold gasket on his GTP and found we didnt have a gasket for the supercharger, so his will sit overnight and we will finish it up tomorrow.
