    • From what I've seen the stock cam is worth about $25 if people even want it, and the heads might be worth $50, $100 if we're really lucky...
The 5.3 valve covers should work but apparently the PCV's different (like it's really that hard to re-do anyways). Almost got my second one done, should be polished by the end of tonight.

On another note, should I/we worry about changing lifter trays? I can't believe that a plastic tray would be used to guide the lifter.

      • the stock heads and cam aren't worth a thing. I tried to sell my heads for $50 and they are still sitting here. The lifter trays are just fine as well guys.

          • I looked up the specs and it looks like the cam would be an upgrade, but the heads on the 5.3 have a smaller combustion chamber=higher compression ratio.

            • Would a 160' thermostat help since we can get it tuned in for more timing/less startup enrichment?

                • a 160 stat is a good idea, but he will change the fan settings either way to help keep it cooler.

                        • I've got a question about bolt-on SFC's...do you have to drill the subframe anywhere to run the bolts through or do they bolt into existing holes?
And the 230/230 cam isn't really THAT big is it? (I'll start telling people I have a 25mm race cam-metric conversion)

                          • Uses existing holes. The control arm bolt in the back, the trans tunnel brace bolts in the middle, and 2 custom bolts and plates through holes in the front behind the wheels.

Going to put your ls1 cam in the 5.3?

                            • I might have to go with the simple 2-point sfc's and not the 3-point ones that tie into the tunnel brace though because I'm not sure if they'll clear my y-pipe...it's been a few weeks since I've even gotten to look at the car.
